AMBLYOPIA BY STRONG ANISOMETROPIA: SIMON'S CASE

Simon was diagnosed with severe unilateral shortsightedness at the age of 3. Without appropriate optical correction during the first 3 years of life, the non-use of the eye with blurry vision induced functional amblyopia [1]. Treatment will include total optical correction of the shortsighted eye, in combination with regular periods of active occlusion of the non-affected eye. The use of a contact lens on the affected eye starting at the age of 5 allowed comparing the impact of different optical correction devices on the binocular function.
